GRACE ON MISSION
MISSION PARTNERS

Justin and Tammy Hettinga
Justin & Tammy Hettinga serve marginalized indigenous peoples around the world. They do this as part of Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL (Wycliffe’s main field partner). Their vision is for all peoples on earth to have access to the Word of God in a language they understand best, enabling them to flourish in life and know God. As the Americas Area director, Justin gives leadership to all of SIL’s work in North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean. Tammy is his administrative assistant. Prior to these roles, they worked among the Quechua people of Peru as adult literacy specialists for ten years, and then at Wycliffe Canada’s headquarters in Calgary on the leadership/administrative team for six years. They have two married sons: Caleb (& Alixx) and Jesse (& Jenni).

The Hynd Family
The Hynd Family have been serving in Northeast Calgary as cross-cultural missionaries and church planters since the fall of 2019. They previously spent many years working with Power to Change on Calgary’s university campuses before moving into a diverse neighbourhood with few churches where many have never meaningfully encountered Jesus. Since then, they have been loving and sharing life with their neighbours and community both in word and deed. In September 2023 they, together with a core team, established Northeast Calgary Community Church as an organic step in this process of working to see God’s Kingdom come and His will be done in Northeast Calgary and among the nations of the world as it is in Heaven. They also work alongside several other churches in Northeast Calgary in a network called Northeast YYC Collaborate.

Hope in The Dark
Hope in The Dark brings hope to children and their families living in the slums of Bucaramanga, and Cartagena, Colombia by providing nutritious meals, educational assistance, literacy training, sound teaching of the word of God, counselling, vocational training, and recreational opportunities. By loving and caring for the children daily, we build meaningful relationships and instill in them, through words and actions, the importance of knowing Jesus. Our vision is to see these children and families living in vulnerable social and economic conditions experience the freedom, transformation, and true love of Jesus Christ, leading them to pursue His purpose for their lives, and become contributing members in their communities.

The Rodgers Family
Kurtis Rodgers is the church planter for Rabbittown Community Church in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, the 4th church plant of Mile One Mission. Kurtis is married to Celeste and they have a daughter together, Gabriela Lucia. Rabbittown is a centre-city neighbourhood made up of generational Newfoundland families, immigrant families, and students from the local university. However it’s also an area that has seen an increase in crime and drug use in recent decades. The mission of Rabbittown Community Church is to restore our neighbourhood with the good news of Jesus. We desire to see every demographic of our community reached with the gospel. Our capital city of St. John’s is just 1% Evangelical and has seen multiple failed church plants throughout the years, so planting here is difficult and takes time. But we believe that God is doing something in my home city and province and that our church plant has a role to play.
We are also proud to partner with the International Mission Board, Send Network Canada and the Canadian National Baptist Convention.
